mToken New Series · FIPS 140-3 Certified

The token your Digital Signature belongs on.

A Class 3 DSC is only as secure as the hardware holding its private key. The mToken New Series is FIPS 140-3 certified and NIST validated — the current standard, not the one it replaced. Plug it in and sign.

The product

mToken New Series — FIPS 140-3 certified

This is the token we sell. One model, stocked, tested and shipped — not a catalogue of whatever was cheapest this month. It holds the private key of your Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate and performs the signing on-device, so the key never touches your computer.

  • FIPS 140-3 certified — the standard that superseded FIPS 140-2, validated against NIST's CMVP programme
  • On-device key generation and signing — the private key is created inside the token and cannot be exported or copied
  • PIN-protected — physical possession alone is not enough to sign
  • FC and CE marked, built for daily use on government portals
  • Plug and play — we help you install the driver and download your certificate onto it
A Digital Signature Certificate is issued by a Certifying Authority licensed by the CCA. This token is the hardware that certificate lives on — you can buy it before or after your certificate is issued.
Why it matters

FIPS 140-3, not 140-2

Most tokens sold in India are still validated against FIPS 140-2, a standard that stopped accepting new submissions in 2021. This one meets its replacement.

The current standard

FIPS 140-3 replaced 140-2 as the US government's requirement for cryptographic modules. A token validated to it is being measured against today's rules, not the ones from a decade ago.

The key never leaves

The private key is generated inside the token and signing happens there too. Nothing sensitive is copied to your laptop, so a compromised machine cannot walk away with your signature.

Required, not optional

CCA rules require the private key of a Class 3 certificate to be generated and held in certified cryptographic hardware. A certificate sitting in a browser or a PFX file is not a compliant setup.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What buyers ask us before ordering a cryptographic token.

Why do I need a USB token at all?
CCA rules require the private key of a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate to be generated inside, and never leave, certified cryptographic hardware. The token is what makes your signature legally usable — a certificate stored in a browser or as a file on disk is not a compliant setup.
What is the difference between FIPS 140-2 and FIPS 140-3?
FIPS 140-3 is the successor standard. NIST stopped accepting new FIPS 140-2 submissions in 2021, and existing 140-2 certificates are being retired on a published schedule. A token validated to 140-3 is measured against the current requirements. Both are accepted today; 140-3 is the one with a future.
Does it work with my Certifying Authority?
It holds Class 3 certificates from the major Indian Certifying Authorities. Each CA publishes its own list of supported tokens, so tell us who issued — or will issue — your certificate when you order and we will confirm against their list before we dispatch.
Do you issue the Digital Signature Certificate too?
No. Certificates are issued by Certifying Authorities licensed by the CCA under the Information Technology Act, 2000. We supply the token the certificate is stored on, and we help you download that certificate onto it once your CA has issued it.
Can I use one token for more than one certificate?
Usually yes — a single token can typically hold multiple certificates, for example a signing and an encryption certificate for the same holder. Exact capacity depends on the certificate profile, so ask us with your specific case and we will tell you straight.
What happens if I forget the PIN or lock the token?
A locked token cannot be recovered — that is the point of the hardware. You will need a new token and a fresh download of your certificate from your Certifying Authority. Call us and we will get a replacement out and walk you through the re-download.
How is it priced, and do you do bulk?
Prices move with stock, so we quote on the call rather than post a number that is stale by next week. Bulk rates for CA firms, tax consultants and resellers are available — say how many you need and we will give you the slab.
Where do you ship?
Anywhere in India. Orders confirmed on a working day are dispatched the same or next working day.
